Chickens are completely under-appreciated. So many people think of hens and roosters as food or farm-country livestock and never bother to take a second look. But I see them as complex and fascinating creatures. Chickens are gorgeous, definitely some of the most exotic and fanciful birds in the animal kingdom. Not only are they beautiful, but they have some of the most striking personalities.

This is the start to a series of daily watercolors, in an attempt to paint every breed of chicken: the majestic Ancona.
